Kumala & PinkDrive at the 2011 Bonitas Comrades Marathon
Alison Pearce and the Kumala PinkDrive team made the trip north to support their runners and raise Breast Cancer awareness with a PinkDrive presence at the Comrades Marathon this month. The team put in a huge effort and were rewarded when the PinkDrive stand won the Gold Award at the Comrades Expo.
The prizewinning stand featured an interactive Pink Shop, where visitors could browse and buy pink gifts and other branded merchandise to show their support for PinkDrive. The Pink Finish Line Photo Booth created a ruckus with hundreds of expo visitors queueing up to have pink photos taken. Refreshments were on offer too – coffee or cappucinos served by the CIRO barristas, as well as the opportunity to enjoy a pampering back & neck or foot massage courtesy of the Mangwanani Day Spa.
Come race-day, this years edition of the gruelling 89km ultra-marathon course ran in the dowhill direction from Pietermaritzburg to Durban. Below is a collection of photos showing the team in action.
